So here we are on the coast looking towards England. Another successful and enjoyable tour is at it's end .

Of course it may not have been to celebrate the end of our France tour, but it was impressive all the same.
The giants we have seen once before in a place we don't mention are back .
We were chased through the darkened streets of Sarlat to our terror but they didn't get us. See if you can spot one on the photo (probably eating one of the children). Rouen seemed a safe distance away so we made our way there . At some point in time we have to make our way home so we head to Sarlat for a couple of days exploration of the surrounding area , and of course to watch the fire eaters as if we hadn't had enough fire related incidents :)
This was the warning sign at the bottom. ....... ...and let me tell you that there were at least NINE people at the top. Oh did it wobble and shake ! It didn't stop us though.
Except there were no planes and for a change no automobiles !
Today we take the petit train to Bordeaux and the SNCF tour of the city. Also taking in the odd tram , not forgetting to break every auto ticket machine in the city and rebooting the ticket validating machine on the trams . Oysters and snails have now also been eaten !!! Deciding the only way to find the sun is to journey into the desert we spent day 9 stocking up on essentials such as camels and dune sherpas. It is surprising what you can obtain sitting around a pool.
Day 10 and our journey into the desert commenced , up steps as it happened, so we sold the camels. The setting sun was found , a glorious view ! Well it looks like our hunt for the sun may soon be over. 33c today and rising !
Time to relax and enjoy the odd beer or two. Ok so really it's not a river but the Canal Du Midi , but when the temperature gets into the 30s water is the place to be.
And as a bonus we now know that the first locks for canals were built in China. Well we have made it to Carcassonne !
The new method of avoiding hotel incidents of a fire like nature is employed by dropping off luggage and leaving the rooms as soon as possible. Instead we spend the afternoon partaking of the odd beer or two in a fairy-tale . |
