Well we have made it to Carcassonne !
The new method of avoiding hotel incidents of a fire like nature is employed by dropping off luggage and leaving the rooms as soon as possible. Instead we spend the afternoon partaking of the odd beer or two in a fairy-tale .

Well what an exciting day ! We have seen more flamingos than in a flaming zoo , walked more miles round city ramparts than must be possible and survived the hunt for food in a torrential thunder storm . Oh yes and we survived the hotel fire as well.
We knew last year that there were fields of lavender to be found somewhere , but we never really discovered them. Not sure why, perhaps the inconspicuous colour.
Anyway this year we succeeded and then topped last years village in the sky off with a town in the sky. Onwards to Roman France it is now , see you in the town of Arles ! It is surprising how a simple little thing like a plastic box stuck to the car window can cause so much amusement. Admittedly is does throw out the occasional 'beep'sound but that's about it. The clever thing it does do though is automatically pay the toll on motorways and so the game begins.................. 1. How fast can we approach the barrier before we actually go too fast and hit it before it rises ? 2. Perhaps we can approach in reverse ?? 3. Can we cause more panic in other drivers ,who seeing our foreign plates, think we will cause havoc trying to go 'automatic'. Anyway Troyes approaches and so the game is suspended until tomorrow. Enjoy the photo's of the beautiful town. And so the time for departure is almost upon us , anything that isn't sorted now will just have to be done as we travel.
Anyone seen our passports ????? There is something so civilised about visiting cities where even the car parks play music at you , so what could be better than parking to Christmas carols in December.
Welcome back to Bruges !
Here's our September update....... .....the month we were invited to visit the Queen (or her house at least, or to be more precise a field in the grounds far enough away from the house that the sound of Merlin engines wouldn't disturbed her Sunday morning cup of tea) Anyway here are a few photo's of the MX5 National Rally... |
